As the Cacophony Grows is the very first song I wrote for From The Lake. Back in 2012 the structure of the piece was a lot different and it was actually only about half as long. In this track The Angel's Theme can first be heard, as a bit of foreshadowing. This song was also originally titled "Cascades".

Things are growing tense around Pinkerton as Catastrophe has gone missing. The people are looking for someone to blame for what's been happening in the town. They had thought Defiance had been murdered, and had even arrested someone before she turned up alive. They all fell for The Fat Man's deception but Catastrophe is nowhere to be found. Some have taken to begin throwing rocks and bottles at Defiance and even Persephone. A mob needs vengeance, and without it they grow restless and begin to lash out. The Fat Man, in an effort to speed up his plan of taking souls for himself behind Satan's back, begins to force people into deals with him.
